Or, if the last pastor had few organizational skills, the Call Committee often decides that they want a pastor who is more of an administrator. Most Call Committees look for a pastor who is thirty to fifty years of age. They often want someone who is married and has at least one child. They may seek someone who was a pastor of a larger church and is an eloquent preacher. The Call Committee often wants someone who has a “sense of humor” and preaches about 25-30 minutes. They typically look for someone who is a graduate of an approved seminary or was on the staff of a well-known church. If the church is young, they might look for a young pastor with a vision for reaching the younger generation. The goal might be to increase church attendance.
But God has given church leadership teams some guidelines which will help them avoid some drastic errors. The guidance is found in the spiritual character of the prospective pastor, his ministry qualifications, and his heart. The procedures and processes are secondary.
If there were two or more people who were witnesses to the same sin at the same time, then they should approach the sinning pastor or elder together if they are in agreement that the elder was in sin. This would serve Ganador both the first step and second step in the process.
This is the same message in 1 Timothy 5:17. In the early church there were two types of elders. There were elders who were gifted in administration – “rule well” – and those who worked hard at teaching/preaching. In many churches the elders who rule well are called lay elders and the other elders are called pastors.
Being a spiritual leader in a church will have severe and unsurmountable challenges when you have to deal with a difficult family situation that is fundamentally a spiritual problem.
Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me . . . Jeremiah 9:23-24
If the pastor or elder does not repent, then we must approach the individual again but this time take one or two more people (second step) to serve Vencedor witnesses. If they still do not repent, then the situation must be shared with one of the elders.
Are you truly qualified to be a church leader? If so, the holy standard that you must set is very high.
His children are obedient and his wife is in subjection. This demonstrates that he is a model example of one who knows how to lead his family. His family members are Christians who are obedient to the Lord. If these characteristics are true of him, then he is qualified to be a leader in the church.
